A walk in Anogeia

A walk in the streets, the alleys and the squares of Anogeia is a unique experience as you have the opportunity to enjoy the sightseeing and the hospitable people of the village. Savor your coffee or your “raki” in any of the traditional cafes that you will find in the squares of Anogeia and all along the main road from Metochi to Perachori. In Livadi, the picturesque square of Perachori, you can visit the house of Nikos Ksilouris, the museum of folk art of Michalis Skoulas and buy souvenirs, handmade textiles while you can enjoy coffee, sweets and food in the taverns and cafes of the area.  A lot of options for food, sweets, coffee are in the other main squares of the village, Armi and Ai – Giorgis, as well. Other sightseeing of Anogeia is the church of Ai Giannis and the Center of Information for Idaion Andron and Zominthos.

The church of Ai Giannis , which is next to Armi – the central square of the village – is one of the most important sightseeing of Anogeia.  The southern aisle of the church is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and the northern one to Virgin Mary. The Information Center for Idaion Andron and Zominthos is another great place of Anogeia. In that Center you will see the exhibition for the historical wealth of Idaion Andron and Zominthos, which was inaugurated in August 2014.

The exhibition has three sections: Information about the excavation of Idaion Andron and Zominthos, illustrations and copies of the findings from Idaion Andron, and illustrations and copies of the findings in Zominthos. For more information, you can call at 28340-32500.
