Alcibiades Skoulas, known as Gryllios, was a naïf folk artist who began painting and carving stone and wood at a relatively old age. His creations, like those by all folk artists, draw their subjects from the cultural and natural environment of his land. Within a few years he managed to produce a huge number of works, many of which are exhibited at the small museum he created next to his home in Perachori, known as the Gryllios Museum.
